When you are choosing the domain names for your blogs, do you try to use an exact keyword, or do you not really worry too much about that?
If you do use a keyword, do you try to use a specific physical product keyword (i.e. sony750lcdtv.com) or do you go more general (sonylcdtv.com)?

It’s important to get every advantage that you can. So if you are able to secure a domain that is an exact match then take it! But with the Google “MayDay” update several things have changed.

It used to be that if you had an exact match domain name that you could rank on Google’s first page with nothing more than a “Hello World” post. (I know, because I’ve done it) This is no longer the case. Original content is more important now than ever. Your content will override your domain name…exact match or not.

I suggest staying away from domains that have specific trademarks in them (such as Sony in your example). While it is tempting because they can be very easy to rank for, It is heart breaking to work hard and long on site, start making money with it, only to have it ripped out from under you with a letter from a lawyer.

Keep in mind that there are lots of search terms that people use that don’t include exact product names. Those make great domain names

Try to find a domain name that will encompass your product and give you room to expand to other products and also include more content. After all, how many articles can you write about a sony 750 lcd tv? Try a domain like “LCDTVWORLD” or the like and have your Sony 750 LCD TV be a sub page of that site.

This process may take a while, but the research that you put in up front will lead to a solid business foundation later on.

How many of us jut toss those emails away? For example, how many of us Amazon affiliates actually read the emails they send us about
special promotions, products, etc…

I will read them more often after this week!

For example, earlier this week I received an email from Amazon about a new toy that had been released and was on sale with no shipping charge. Doing a few minutes of research I found that this toy had a lot of potential come Christmas time and was able to pick up a sweet domain name because there are no searches in Google or competition for this product… yet.

And then yesterday, I received an email from Amazon about a “Back To School” sale they were having. I was emailing all my lists anyway, so I included a  short comment about the sale at the end of my mailing.

The result was that 168 additional products were purchased through that link. Even better is that it dinged me up another .5% affiliate commissions which is then applied to ALL of the purchases for that month.

Just FYI, that none of these lists are “Back To School” lists. But step on the other side of the keyboard and look at your market and you might find many of your lists have opportunities for cross promotions.

So the next time an affiliate says they are running a sale, promote it! Otherwise you may be missing out on a nice bonus!

Well written, well thought out post as I always expect from you.

Let me come right out and say that I have the feeling that I am the speaker in the video you are referring to I put this out there so that others will know the point of view that I am coming from.

First off, if someone is struggling to do well online then we are not “broken” and nothing is “wrong” with us. We are the “norm”. If that is what people feel that I communicated then I didn’t do a good job. I say “we” above because I have been in the place many people are right now. There are many times that I still am, lol.

But the reality is that hindsight is always 20/20. And looking back at myself (and speaking with other successful people I find they have the same opinion) I can clearly see where my problems were during the six years I struggled.

My mindset stunk.

I believed making money online was hard. I was angry that I couldn’t achieve the same results that others were getting, I pointed fingers, my spouse would be upset because of the amount of time I spent on the computer, etc. Sound familiar?

My mindset stunk.

I agree 100% with you that “there’s no way on earth that me imagining that I live in Buckingham Palace is gonna cause a cheque to come through the door.” Yet we still have to have dreams, right? We still have to have goals, right?

That’s part of mindset, asking yourself “Why am I doing this” and making sure that the answer is compelling enough.

All of us who struggle to make a living online work HARD. No doubt about it. But, are we working on the right things? How is it that many can work much less yet accomplish (and earn) so much more than us?

That’s part of mindset.

Are the people around you supportive? Do they understand your goals and dreams or do they knock you down at every turn?

That’s part of mindset.

If nearly EVERY successful person says that their success began when they started to think differently, then there has to be something to that right?

I shared various ways to help those working IM part time (like me) improve their mindset in order to hopefully achieve success faster. I work 85% in niche marketing and only dabble a little in the “Make Money Online” . I never presented an offer in my presentation, in fact I didn’t even mention my blog, lol.

I just shared things that I wish others had shared with me six years ago.

You wrote that I “angered me with some of the points he made”.

My response? …. Good.

If I angered people enough that they say “I’m going to show HIM!” and they go out and make six figures next year, then I did good.

If I encouraged people enough that they go out and make six figures next year, then I did good too.

Either way, we’ll still all go out to lunch together at the E1kaD event have a good time.

You see I’ve started to get real close to Aweber’s “Please Call For Pricing” line for my monthly payment. For that reason I started looking around for software I could host myself and save some cash. What can I say, other than, “I’m cheap.”

After quite a bit of research, I settled on a popular software solution to replace Aweber. What a mistake….Once I got it set up and working with all my lists imported, I called Aweber and canceled. The customer service from Aweber was excellent. They didn’t harass me or anything. They only asked, “why?” and then processed the request. It took less than two minutes.

Then things got interesting. The software I shelled out $200 for worked fine. It’s just that when you actually start USING something you start to notice all the little annoying things you didn’t see before. Such as:

-No redirect to a “Thank You” page if you choose NOT to do a double optin
-You can’t “Broadcast” a message to a list with out a very messy filter procedure first.
- The delivery rate was TERRIBLE
- To get “white-listed with the major ISP’s is very time consuming and can be quite expensive.
- Many other things

Oh, and did I mention that HostGator only allows 500 emails outgoing an hour? That could take a while when you have a list like mine…

So I crawled on my hands and knees back to Aweber and asked forgiveness. Since it was within 30 days of my canceling, all of my data was still there. It took less than two minutes and I was back in business. Again Customer support was terrific.

5 minutes after hanging up with Aweber I broadcast an offer to my lists and now have some nice spending cash for my speaking engagement in Vegas and tickets to see Carrot Top.

I guess Humble Pie doesn’t taste so bad after all….

In the interview he was asked, “Do you have any advice for young Harrison Fords’ who are out there?” His answer was great.

He basically said, “Never quit. I never made a full time living in acting till I was 35. So many people hop on the Greyhound bus to LA only to leave shortly afterward when things get tough. Many times you’ll wind up getting a gig simply because you’re the only one left.”

I enjoy reading what friends I have met around the world are doing. I don’t really care what they had for breakfast that morning, but I like reading about accomplishments they have made, quotes they have run across, great sites they have found, excellent articles they have read, etc. But guess what….?

An interesting thing that Twitter has taught me is the power of BREVITY. You see, on Twitter you can only write 140 characters (letters, spaces,etc) before your message gets cut off. I have been amazed however at the power of how ‘Less can be more.”

I have purchased products linked to in Twitter. Not because of the 7 page sales letter but because of a 140 character recommendation from someone I was following. I have learned some amazing SEO tips, a great backup strategy, how to add backlinks overnight, and discovered incredible software I have never heard of or seen before all from Twitter.

I also learned that Kevin Riley has something for rodents.

Like I said, I’m a fan. Not a fanatic.

A lot can be done in 140 characters.

It used to be that I wouldn’t post a blog message here unless unless I had a thousand word essay to share. Unless it had to be printed out, I didn’t think it was worth putting out.

I was wrong. So except to see a lot more short and informative posts here in the future.

Yet somehow this post wound up being much longer than I anticipated.
